During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports broadcast team must adapt to live coverage when Israeli athletes are held hostage by a terrorist group. Juliette Ménager worked on the casting for both this film and Munich (2005). It’s a great film. We saw it at a secret movie night at Cinemark, and it’s one of the best we’ve seen. The film begins in 1972. I’m old enough to remember the Black September terrorist attacks at the Munich (Germany) Olympics, but not the details. The upcoming film will focus on the developments surrounding the hostages and the terrorist situation, and how the ABC sports team covered it. It’s non-stop action and suspense as the story unfolds. It was fascinating to see the control room and the technical aspects of producing a live television show, especially when all the action was starting. It was a great way to observe the change in attitude and to consider the issues of politics and morality. Although the theater had comfortable reclining seats, I spent most of the movie on the edge of my seat. While some undercover films aren’t worth $5, this one is worth the full price of admission.
